Our first destination is the ancient cave of Pellumbas, nestled uphill at the heart of Erezini Canyon. This cave, with a history dating back 40,000 years, once provided shelter for wild bears. Over time, it transformed into a dwelling for ancient humans during the Middle Palaeolithic era, approximately 30,000 years ago. In more recent history, during the First and Second World Wars, the cave served as a hiding place for locals from surrounding villages.

Today, the Pellumbas cave stands as a testament to a long and rich history, offering visitors an intriguing and beautiful experience. Many describe it as a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. As you hike to the rock on the Cave of Pellumbas, which takes about 1 hour one way with an elevation gain of up to 600 meters, be prepared for breathtaking views of wild mountains, valleys, the Erzeni river, and the Erezini Canyon.
